Our Farm and Garden
Take a moment to reconnect with nature at SCP Mendocino's Farm and Garden. Nestled on 15 acres of picturesque land, our farmstead offers a peaceful retreat for guests to explore and connect with nature. Feed the llamas and chickens as you stroll through our lush gardens and soak in the tranquility.
Our Mendocino Farm
Llamas
SCP Mendocino's Farm is home to three llamas, Larry, Curly, and Moe, ready to greet our guests. Our llamas' diet consists of browsing on leaves and trees and grazing on grasses. For a treat, and in harsh or dry weather, we can supplement their diets with hays and grains. They require a low amount of protein – their native habitat is in the Andes at high elevations, where forage can be sparse.
Guests are welcome to come to morning and evening feedings during their stay. We just ask that you please do not feed the llamas unsupervised.
Chickens
We feed all of our chickens organic feed and you will find them out each afternoon so that they can hunt for bugs and peck for greens. This way they stay healthy and happy so they'll lay the best eggs.
We have numerous different types and guests are welcome to go feed the chickens in all the coops. You will find a satchel of organic chicken feed in your guest room when you arrive.
Our Mendocino Garden
Organic Garden
From the fresh breakfasts we cook daily to the honey served with tea, we like to grow and gather from our farmstead to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage a healthy and balanced local ecosystem. Our garden is a source of green beans, lettuce, potatoes, peas, beets, and other vegetables, as well as herbs and flowers.
