Getting to SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge
SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, surrounded by the 250,000 acres of Corcovado National Park, is an 189-acre private reserve only accessible by boat.

Travel to Costa Rica
Arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría
- If you plan to go directly to SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge on the same day of your arrival to San Jose, your flight must arrive before 10:00 am to depart on Sansa Airlines to Drake Bay Airport (DRK).
- If not, plan to stay in San Jose and take the morning flight to Drake Bay Airport (DRK).
If you are staying overnight in San Jose, we recommend the following hotels that both include complimentary breakfast and shuttle to/from SJO:
Boat from Drake Bay Airport
Fly to Drake Bay Airport (DRK)
Drake Bay Airport (DRK) is approximately a 40-minute flight from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), with three daily flights. Availability is limited, so we recommend making your arrangements as soon as possible. There are daily flights from San Jose to Drake Bay through Sansa Airlines.
When booking your flight, book one of the following times as you must arrive before 1:00 pm to ensure you are at the bay for the boat:
- 8:10 am departure from SJO, 9:00 am arrival at DRK
- 11:35 am departure from SJO, 12:30 pm arrival at DRK
- 12:00 pm departure from SJO, 12:50 pm arrival at DRK

Please share your flight information with our Concierge Team, who will arrange your guided transfer from Drake Bay Airport to the beach. To arrive at the boat, you will wade into calf-high water. Pants that can be rolled up and water shoes are recommended. The boat ride is an enjoyable 20-30 minutes with beautiful coastline views.
Boat from Sierpe
There are several ways to arrive in Sierpe from San Jose outlined below:
1) Fly to La Managua Airport in Quepos (XQP), Car Transfer to Sierpe
From Juan Santamaria (SJO), fly into La Managua Airport in Quepos (XQP) on Sansa Airlines, followed by a two-hour drive (we can assist with transportation from the airport for a fee). Guests must arrive at Sierpe by 11:00 am for a boat transfer to SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge. There are daily flights from San Jose to Quepos through Sansa Airlines.
2) Car Transfer from San Jose to Sierpe
Alternatively, the drive from San Jose to Sierpe is about four hours (we can assist with transportation from San Jose for a fee). The latest time to arrive in Sierpe is 11:00 am to reach Corcovado by 12:30 pm.
If you arrive later than 11:00 am, we recommend the following accommodations to enjoy in Uvita.
3) Drive to La Hacienda, Sierpe
If you prefer to drive from San Jose to Sierpe, we recommend allowing between four and 6 hours to enjoy breathtaking views of the Costa Rican countryside. Once you arrive at La Hacienda, you can leave your car at our reception center, which has complimentary 24-hour security.

Boat Ride from Sierpe to SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge
The journey takes you through the most extensive mangrove wetlands system on Central America’s Pacific coast, where you’ll have a good chance of spotting monkeys, crocodiles, and plenty of birds. As we pass through the river mouth and follow the coast, there’s a chance of seeing dolphins and even whales, depending on the season.
Refreshments are served during the trip, including lunch and a complimentary cocktail at the lodge.

- Rental cars are available through Discover Cars or Solid Car Rental, among others. We recommend booking in advance and you are able to leave your car in our secure lot during your time at SCP.
