Arriving at SCP Hilo Hotel

SCP Hilo is located two miles from Hilo International Airport (ITO), the main airport for East Hawaii servicing the Hilo area. Taxi service is available for approximately $12.00 to $18.00 taxi fare and there is a taxi at the airport.

It is less than 2 hours, and various ways to come from Kona International Airport.

We do not offer airport transportation, but the taxi runs frequently from the airport and it ranges from $12.00 to $16.00 each way.

Our hotel has no elevator to pay homage to the 1950s original construction. The property has stairs up to 3 levels. ADA Guest Rooms are accessible from the main floor, and we provide ADA parking with access to an ADA-friendly door.

Reservations

Many of our rates are fully refundable if you cancel within the 24-hour period before you are scheduled to arrive at the hotel.

Your Stay

Check-in is at 4:00 pm local time. 

Guests can purchase an early check for their stay and arrive as early as noon.

Check-out time is at 11:00 am. 

Guests can also purchase late check out and extend their time and check-out at 3 pm.

Yes, all SCP Hotels are non-smoking including guest rooms, public spaces, and hotel grounds. There are no designated areas for smoking on the property.

Guests who violate our policy will be charged an additional cleaning fee if smoke is detected in accordance with our booking terms and conditions.

A $25 taxable Amenity Fee will be charged each night of your stay and includes:

  • In-room WiFi
  • Cultural workshops and classes (including lei making, local fruit tasting, yoga and more)
  • Live local music
  • Hotel bikes
  • Stand-up paddle boards
  • Outdoor pool
  • Fitness room including Peloton Bikes and TRX equipment

Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs 35 pounds and under at SCP Hilo!

We charge a $35 per night, per pet fee and there is a 2-dog limit per guest room.

Dogs cannot be left unattended in your guest room or anywhere on the property.

At SCP, every time you choose to stay with us you are consciously choosing to join a community that is driving positive change in the world around us.  Your stay:

  • provides one adolescent with well-being tools and resources
  • lights the home of one family caring for a critically ill child for 24-hours
  • plants one tree in an unnaturally deforested area
  • removes 2.2 pounds of trash from local beaches on Hawaii through Hawaii Wildlife Fund.

Self-parking is included in the Guest Amenity Fee and you will be provided a tag for your car.  There is no additional charge to park in our private lot.  Please do not leave valuables in your car. 

Washers and dryers are available in our onsite Guest Laundry Room for a fee. Credit cards are accepted.

Guest Rooms

We allow up to three adults to share one room for an additional fee. Up to two children under 12 using the existing bedding and accompanying a paying guest are free. Please reference our guest room details for additional information.

In-room WiFi is included in the amenity fee for all guests, and a code is provided at check-in.  Complimentary WiFi is provided in the lobby and hotel public spaces.

All SCP Hotels are non-smoking including guest rooms, public spaces and grounds.  There are no designated areas for smoking on property.  Guests will be charged a cleaning fee if they smoke in their room.

Provisions Market is open to guests 24/7 and offers fresh brewed coffee along with locally-sourced products from the Hawaiian Islands.

SCP partners with EarthCheck the world’s leading scientific benchmarking, certification and advisory group for travel and tourism, to provide scientific benchmarking and certification of its company-wide regenerative practices.

We have eliminated single use plastics for bath amenities and water bottles. We have filtered water stations for guests and glassware if needed but encourage guests to bring their own reusable water bottle. 

We have solar panels providing over 10 MWh of energy in the hotel, saving hundreds of thousands of Co2 emissions each year.

Visiting Hilo, Hawaii

The entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park 40 miles, approximately a 1 hour drive.

Absolutely!  We encourage guests to walk or bike to explore Hilo.  We are in a tropical climate so it doesn't hurt to be prepared for a little rain.
